Dr. LeRoy Popowski, Optometrist

Dr. Popowski completed his bachelor’s degree at St. John’s University and earned his master’s degree in physiology at the University of Iowa before graduating from Pacific University College of Optometry.  While training at Pacific University, he completed thesis studies in advanced contact lens design and served as a consultant for Nike in the development of sports vision eyewear.  He completed extensive training in refractive surgery, ocular disease management, and earned his Therapeutic & Diagnostic Licensure.  Dr. Popowski’s extensive training enabled him to achieve hospital privileges, where he has served as a consultant for disease management, taking care of patients with primary ocular disease and secondary eye pathology related to systemic disease. 

Dr. Popowski served in the US Army as an optometrist for three years, including a one year deployment to Iraq where he provided vision care to our troops and traveled to provide care to our coalition troops.  He specializes in the treatment of dry eye, glaucoma, pediatric vision care, and diabetic eye disease.  Dr. Popowski is a member of the Southern Colorado Optometric Society, the Colorado Optometric Society, and the American Optometric Society.

Dr. Popowski is an early adopter of the latest technological innovations advances in eye care and enjoys implementing the most advanced instrumentation into patient care to provide his patients with the highest level of care.  He is dedicated to ensuring that his patients receive the best care available and are informed of the latest ophthalmic products on the market to result in prevention of vision loss due to pathology, and optimization of vision through advanced ophthalmic and therapeutic products.  Dr. Popowski is also an InfantSEE provider and will be happy to provide your infant with a vision screening to ensure that he/she does not have a visual impairment that may adversely affect their development and learning.  Dr. Popowski is committed to providing you the highest level of eyecare.

Dr. Popowski is married to Dr. Felicia Popowski and they have two active boys.  His family enjoys hiking, camping, and spending time outdoors in Colorado.  He also enjoys cycling and running and has competed as a professional for the US National Team in several World Cup Events and World Championships.
